How to Craft A Needle Felted Mouse Tutorial
If you’ve been around my blog at all, then I’m sure by now you know that I love dabbling in all sorts of projects. I recently started to refinish a dollhouse that my husband gave me when we were teenagers. I decided to turn it into a woodsy cottage for my little one, and thought that some cute little mice would be the perfect inhabitants . Of course this led me down the rabbit hole of needle felting and here we are! If you would love to create your own needle felted little mouse, check out this tutorial for all skill levels below!

Materials:
- Wool Roving
- Pipe cleaners
- Coarse felting needle
- Fine felting needle
- Felting mat or felting pad
- Needle felting kit (optional but this is most everything you need bundled together!)
- Wool carders (brushes)
I’ve written a blog post covering the full details on the basic needle felting process which you can read HERE. You’ll just need to follow those basic steps and make a few changes that we will cover in this post. Start out making your pipe cleaner armature (or skeleton). Take your base color wool and wrap around the armature until it forms the shape of the mouse. Using your multi needle tool, very carefully needle felt the form until it becomes solid and won’t unravel.
Take the felt color that you’d like to be the mouse’s fur color and brush it out using your wool carder or brush. I chose a rusty brown since I’m making a little mouse for autumn. Needle it into a flat sheet of “fur” that you will use to cover the mouse. Gently needle the fur into the mouse.
Roll two little balls of fur color for ears and needle them into discs. Take a single little needle and gently attach to the mouse head. I added a layer of pink for the interior of the ears. Finally add the plastic eyes and nose by needling slots to push them into. This may require a little elbow grease but they will slide in. I like to secure with super glue since small children will be playing with the mice.
There you have it! A relatively simple way to create your own little mice through the art of needle felting!
