Encouraging Verses for Moms
As I’ve become a mother, I’ve realized just how much encouragement matters. Motherhood is humbling, hard, and yet so beautiful. In such a short time, I have seen how much we truly need constant uplifting words and support. We need to know that we aren’t alone in our struggles.
It seems, at times, like society loves to point out everything that mothers do wrong while raising their babies. It feels like the world simply forgets to support mothers or tell a mom “good job” because it’s just expected of us. Let’s not forget that we are our own worst critics at times, feeling hyper aware of our short comings. Where can we turn when we need a boost?
When the world around us seems to lack the encouragement we need, I have to remind myself that God sees all of us in our daily pursuit of being good moms. Here are a few encouraging verses for moms that I hope will encourage you and make you feel seen, sustained, and chosen to bring glory to the One who truly matters the most.
Proverbs 31:31

“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
Our current world may view motherhood as a lowly role to play, but that isn’t so! God calls us to serve others and raise our children to know Jesus. What job could be more important?! We may feel like our work is a thankless job sometimes, but God sees our work as something worthy of praise. Continue your service as a wife and mother knowing that you are serving the Lord in your efforts.
Esther 4:14
“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Sometimes it feels daunting to raise a child in a world that is so broken. Wrongs are made to look right and what is good is called bad. It is easy to go along with the world and hard to speak the truth. As mothers, we must raise our babies to shine the light in this world. What an intimidating task! God blessed us with these children for a reason and perhaps we were born to raise tiny disciples in such a time as this. We were chosen as mothers!
Psalm 127:3
Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.
Society often depicts moms as overburdened women who are missing out on the fun things and opportunities of life. Mothers don’t do as they please, seek self first , or lavish themselves like the world encourages us to do. When those are the messages constantly blasted in our faces, it’s easy to feel discouraged, jealous, or like you are missing out on something “greater”. The Bible tells us that this couldn’t be further from the truth. God calls children a reward from Him! Our babies are one of life’s greatest blessings that God chose to give us!
Philippians 4:13
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Chances are, if you’re a mom, you’ve felt unequipped or overwhelmed. How can we bear the weight of caring for another life or lives constantly? How can we protect this little person from harm? How can we raise them to seek God in a world that says otherwise? How can we juggle all of our duties and responsibilities without cracking under the pressure? Sometimes motherhood feels heavy but God tells us that we can do all things through Him who strengthens us. We are not reliant on our own strengths at all. He will sustain us, praise be! All we need to do is lean into Him.
Isaiah 66:13
As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you;
There are times when moms may feel scared, worried, heartbroken, you name it. Late at night while rocking my baby, I felt alone . During my transition from “me” to “we”, I wondered if anyone knew how truly tired or sore I was. I wondered if anyone knew what I was going through. I had this beautiful baby, but I still felt like a child myself going through a great change.
In that place of transition and brokenness, I realized that God has been there in the night with me all along. When we feel sad, lonely, or have those anxious late night thoughts (you know the ones), God is there. I found that praying and casting my cares on the Lord was the most comforting thing I could do. No one can take a mother’s endless worry or pain away except for Jesus, and He is always there, ready to comfort us.
Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
No one knows the true meaning of tired, until they become a mother. Your body is exhausted from growing an entire human being and once that process is complete, you are caring for your sweet baby day and night. Countless nights, months, and sometimes years on end of broken sleep, sleep regressions, or that relentless late night mom anxiety.
We get up to soothe our babies one, two, or sometimes ten times in the night. We worry if they’re still breathing over there alone in their crib, and we get up to check again even though our brains say they’re probably fine. Motherhood is wonderful. Motherhood is also exhausting down to the very marrow of our bones.
As tired as we are, somehow we are able to keep going. We will never “catch up” on our sleep and we may wear our under eye bags for the foreseeable future, but God is waiting and ready to help us rest in Him. We can rest our anxieties and worries for our children because we know He watches over them. We can draw energy and strength from Him because we know that he will hold us in His hands.
I pray that these verses will encourage you, mama. God is always near to us and to our babies. We can handle anything motherhood may throw our way because we have Him.

You are an amazing wife, mother, and neice. We love you so much!!
