Printable Christmas Coloring Pages for Toddlers

The holiday season is fast approaching, and I am beyond excited to celebrate this time of year with my little one! Each day, no matter the time of year, we sit down for a little while to color or craft. I decided I’d draw up some coloring pages for our own personal use to ring in the Christmas season, but figured you guys might like to use them to have some easy, festive fun with your little ones too!

My little guy is a very outdoorsy, wild child, but there are those rare moments that allow for us to pop on a cozy movie and bust out the crayons. The Christmas season adds even more magic to the creative coziness that I adore sharing with my kiddo. Turn on some Christmas music, the older the better in my opinion, and let the holiday spirit take over!

These free printable coloring pages were designed with younger kids in mind (1-4 years), but older kids can enjoy them just the same! My friends and I have two year olds and they loved coloring these!  They are illustrated with thick lines and larger details so kids of all ages or of any skill level can enjoy them.

I tried to cover all the bases when it comes to what we love and often think of during Christmastime. From gingerbread men and candy canes to Santa Claus himself, you can find all of that in these five free Christmas coloring pages. You can download the PDF file HERE. Just grab your favorite colors and have a great time!

If you guys enjoy them, you can get my whole holiday coloring book HERE! It contains 25 different winter scenes so you can enjoy it as a countdown to Christmas Day! I included nativity scenes, animals of the manger, and Christmas angels to engage your children in learning about the birth of Jesus. There are also more simplistic Christmas coloring sheets like Christmas presents ,holly leaves, a snowman, Christmas cookies, Christmas stockings, and more!

If you and your kids are burnt out on coloring (is that even possible?!) these easy Christmas coloring pages can still work for you! Challenge your younger children to hone those fine motor skills by staying in the lines. Get some fuzzy Pom Poms and some nontoxic glue to “color” the pages three dimensionally for a fun alternative to crayons! You could also sub beans, beads, foam shapes- you name it! Use tissue paper shredded up to make a holiday stained glass window. For older kids, try creating a coloring page with a limited color palette using only a few different colors  like their own Christmas Picasso!

Another fun idea that is sure to spread some holiday cheer is to create holiday cards with your little ones. You can use the entire coloring page and have your little ones “write” notes or decorate the pictures for a loved one. If you want to take it a step further, have them color and cut out the images from the coloring pages and glue them on a folded piece of colorful construction paper! Add some extra embellishments and BOOM! You’ve got fun holiday cards made by sweet little hands.

Why Choose Christmas Coloring Pages for Toddlers?

1. Boost Creativity: Coloring encourages toddlers to use their imagination and creativity. By choosing crayons and  in coloring in the designs, they practice their color recognition and develop their artistic skills.

2. Practice those Fine Motor Skills: Holding crayons or markers in those sweet chubby hands and practicing staying within the lines helps improve hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. It is a fun activity that helps them grow and develop!

3. Increase Focus and Patience: If you are a toddler parent, you know they don’t stay too focused on one thing for very long at all. Completing a coloring page helps them learn to concentrate and have a smidgen more patience. Coloring helps toddlers build these essential cognitive skills in a fun and engaging way.

4. Holiday Festive Fun: Christmas coloring pages can help build anticipation and excitement for the holidays. They can connect with the season and grow their holiday cheer through coloring beloved Christmas symbols like Santa Claus, reindeer, and Christmas trees.

Coloring is a great activity for all ages around the holidays and is a simple way to sprinkle in something festive each day with your little loves. I hope that you have a magical time getting into the Christmas spirit and celebrating the birth of our Savior with your families!  Merry Christmas from the Midnight Mustard Seed!
